An overnight standoff at The Falls at Sope Creek Apartments in Marietta last week ended with SWAT team officers taking a man into custody.

In a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta, Marietta Police Public Information Officer Chuck McPhilamy said the suspect, Durrell Harris, was wanted in Wisconsin and will face charges for the Marietta standoff.

“It was determined he had outstanding warrants out of Wisconsin with full extradition," McPhilamy told FOX 5 Atlanta. "It's an odd thing that tends to imply to us and law enforcement that those charges are severe or serious."

According to the Oct. 14 report, before being taken into custody in Georgia, Harris barricaded himself inside the apartment building where he held a 19-year-old and a 7-year-old hostage.

After being summoned to the scene, police moved to force their way into the apartment where they rescued the teen and child being held hostage at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13. Finally, shortly after midnight, SWAT team members, with the help of flash bangs, gas and stun guns, were able to take Harris into custody, FOX 5 said.

No other injuries were reported, according to FOX 5.
